Reachout is an annual event where some one hundred plus elderly folk from in and around the Croydon area are invited to a lunch and entertainment at Warlingham School. This is a big event involving members, friends of the club and other volunteers. For this event we link up with the Rotary Club of Banstead to provide drivers, escorts, waiters and other helpers throughout the day.
Lunch is provided by Tom Ho (of Kelong Restaurant) and unusually for him consists of a very traditional English fayre, although of course the quality is as outstanding as ever.
Following lunch entertainment is provided and ranges from school choirs through jazz groups and magicians to steel drum bands, all of which is much appreciated by our guests. A traditional sing song is followed by afternoon tea, before our guests are transported home again.
We have a different theme to celebrate each year. Notably in previous years we have celebrated our club's 40th birthday, the Queen's golden wedding anniversary as well as her golden Jubilee and marked the anniversaries of the end of the second world war. The first reachout event was held in 1995 and they have been going strong ever since.
If you know of any elderly or infirm person living in the Croydon area who might enjoy such an event, please let us know.
