Rotary Club


Projects and activities in the current Rotary year include the following:

Centenary Sensory Garden / Indigo Unit

This is being built in Croydon

Reach Out

An annual event. Collecting 80 to 90 elder people, and bringing them to enjoy lunch and entertainment at a local venue

Life Education Centres

A charity which provides advice, help and education for young people and is actively supported by he Club

Schools Debating Competition

Organised by the Croydon South Rotary Club

Handicapped Rangers

A local charitable organisation supported by the Club

Shelter Boxes

These are self contained ‘support boxes’ which contain a tent, cooking and survival items which can be sent to crisis centres in the world in the event of emergencies. The Club regularly funds such boxes to be sent to crisis centres.

Christmas Collections

During the weeks leading up to Christmas, the club arranges collections at local venues ( e.g. garden centres and supermarkets, and undertakes house to house collections

Croydon Branch of the MS Society

The major project for the year is to help sponsor the purchase of a mini bus for this organisation.

‘Kids Out’

A day out for disadvantaged children organised by the Club

Trad Jazz Night

Fundraising evening in aid of Mercy Ships

Craft Fair

A new initiative being run by the club in early December

Golf Day

Held in mid summer at a local Golf Course – Fun and competition for all involved, and a major fund raising event in aid of the Croydon Branch of the MS Society

Cooking Demonstrations

Run by Tom Ho at the Kelong Restaurant ( proceeds to Club Charitable funds )

‘Bat and Trap’

A now established annual ‘challenge’

International

The club actively supports a number of international projects which have included, ‘Sight Savers’ and the ‘Rotary Jaipur Project’ in India

International link

The Club has a longstanding link with the Rotary Club of Arnhem and exchange visits are arranged every year

Bulbs for the elderly

The Club supplies and distributes flowering plants every year to add a little cheer (and colour) after Christmas.
